Your audience will only build value for your brand on social media if you are not just cluttering their lives with more noise. Join discussions. Learn what’s important to them. If someone reaches out to you, respond.
Know that you can’t be everything to everybody.
Focus your content marketing strategy to build a strong brand. By knowing what to expect from you in terms of content, when they follow your brand, they will welcome your social media conversations.
Quality over quantity.
Every few months, I come across a business what wants to partner with PIX to do an iPad or MacBook contest. Now I’m a big Apple fan, but the problem is, about 60% of the population is as well. You are not building an audience that values your content. This will hurt your brand in the long run. It’s much better to have 500 fans that engage with your content, love your content, share your content…than to have 7500 fans who disappear after connecting with you that first time.

Consistency over a long period of time will yield results.
Get to know the power players.
Influencers are people who have a quality audience that are likely to be interested in your product or service. Concentrate on building a relationship with them, perhaps even sharing their content with your audience and see your own audience grow.
